In honor of National Volunteer Week, we’d like to take a moment to thank our wonderful volunteers for helping us remove 141, 289 pounds of trash from oceans and waterways over the past three years. It’s almost that time of year again! We’re looking for a stellar cleanup planning intern to help us make 2013 our best cleanup season year!
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?’”
On the MLK Day of Service, thousands of Americans from across the country will join together in a day of service.
In 2012, United By Blue held 30 days of service in 15 states with 1,566 volunteers.
Our volunteers put in a grand total of 3,737.5 hours last year, helping us remove 29 tons of trash from oceans and waterways and provide disaster assistance to two towns devastated by Hurricane Sandy.
While our cleanup season doesn’t unfold until March, you can find an MLK Service Day project in your community here.
