United By Blue and Brave New World’s Beach Cleanup

When: Sunday, September 16th
Where: Maryland Ave Beach, Point Pleasant, NJ
There’s no better feeling than spending your afternoon on a serene beach, making a difference in your community and the environment. On Sunday, September 16th, join United By Blue and Brave New World in cleaning up the beach at the end of Maryland Ave.
Volunteer Voices: Josh Falcone
Some volunteers choose to bring their friends, own gloves, or cameras to a cleanup. We were intrigued when Josh Falcone came to our Farias Surf and Sport cleanup with his own UBB flag.

How did you hear about United By Blue?
I heard about your company last spring while shopping at Farias in Ship Bottom. I asked Brian to tell me a little about your company and he said you were a small clothing company that focused on bettering the ocean.
How often do you find yourself in Surf City or Farias?
I go to the store at least twice a month.
What made you decide to come to a United By Blue cleanup?
My girlfriend Elizabeth, who was at the clean up told me about all the information and products you have online. She also read about the clean ups you were doing and thought there should be one on the island. When we saw the sign at the store for the Surf City clean up we immediately signed up and couldn’t wait to be a part of it. I along with her take the time every day to stop and clean the beach.
We hear you always bring your UBB flag to the beach. Tell us a bit about that.
As of May, I began flying the United By Blue flag every day. The reason behind it is to spread the word about the importance of a clean ocean and beach. I also tell many people that your company best expresses my ideas of unity and sustainability in the world. The beach and the ocean are there for all to enjoy. I would like to thank everyone at United By Blue for having a clean up on the island and spreading the word. I look forward to having another one.
United By Blue Presents the 7th Street Surf Shop Corson’s Inlet Cleanup
Despite record high temperatures on the last day in June, United By Blue, 7th Street Surf Shop and 44 community volunteers combed the beach at Corson’s Inlet State Park looking for water bottles and litter rather than a place to soak up the summer sun. Corson’s Inlet State Park is a quiet, natural oasis just below Ocean City.
